The Rapidwinder is louder during advance because it has to advance the film by rotating the motor-coupling shaft at the bottom of the camera. More gears turning, more tourque, louder sound. (Measure it!) The quietest way to advance a leica is to take your time and slowly wind the standard wind-on film advance. BTW, I have both RW and compact motor M. Like both, but use them for different tasks.
