Before getting into underwater video, I used the Nikonos V for underwater still frame work and it is great for using around salt water. The Nikonos optics are not Leica quality, but in the less than ideal conditions, it is doubtfull one could distinguish photos made with the Nikonos V or an M with the latest Leica aspheric optic. If memory serves me correctly, the salt spray will attack the lens coating not to mention any metalic parts. The Nikonos V with the 15mm lens is a beauty for underwater use but I have not used it for above water shots so have no experience with its above water capability. Give me a hollar at 972-790-3487 if I could be of any assistance.
