When you put on a 90 or a 135, the 90 or 135 frameline will appear along with the 50 frameline. With no lens mounted, the frameline mechanism is in the neutral or 135 position (35 or 35/135 on most other M cameras) and the 50 and 135 framelines will be displayed. The frameline selection mechanism can stick or need adjustment. Please be careful with the camera, it sounds like one knock could easily leave you with a blacked out viewfinder.
