Moving the masks against each other uncovers brightlines for 90mm and 135mm. 50mm is always visible. According to your description, I would assume that this sliding mechanism is a little bit sticky. If the brightlines are not equally bright, the best case would be dirt in the slitted mask, the worst case separating prisms or at least defective silvering. Either agree with the seller to send it back immediately or together (!) consult a repairman. You should accept to bear the cost for a CLA (making the masks functional), but not for resilvering or even replacing prisms or the complete finder. Possibly there arn't spares.
