well- I was sort of assuming the T-E was a true 'telephoto, and that the
basic configuarion was either a four element Tessar type or a simple
Gausian- without much variation in the actual optics-- It seemed that
perhaps Leitz was playing around with the 'package' more than anything else-
which might explain the difference in perceived 'flare' I am sure the design
of the barrel and the interior, especially in a longer focal length lens
woiuld be rather critical for 'dampening' internal reflection.  If you have
ever  looked inside a 135 Elmar or Hektor, it seems filled with light
baffles!
Personally, I don't know, but I too would find it interesting to hear what
might be said about the variaous incarnations!
