I've had an SGI LCD monitor for about 4 years. Unless you are a seriously hardcore computer expert, don't try to connect it to a computer not manufactured by SGI. It's a great monitor, but the interface is utterly nonstandard and it takes a lot of work to get the hardware and software configuration right. And the company that makes the interface card went out of business 3 years ago, so there are no significant uprevs of it.

I have on my desk at home three monitors: an Apple Studio Display, an SGI LCD monitor, and a Sony Trinitron. The Apple is the best (brightest, truest colors, best contrast, etc) and the Trinitron is the worst.

I've never had any trouble setting up Macs with dual monitors. It just works.
