(there's an old voigtlander there for $25.) as i'm walking through the shoe isle i see a pair of Mephisto Walking Shoes! the Tilly Hat of leicasnobs (if you don't believe me, check out the archives). my hands are trembling as i yank them down from the shelf, at $9.99 they're a STEAL. quickly i unlace my fallingapart combat boot and squeeze my toe into the mephisto. it's about four sizes too small. HA! i decide to wear it anyway. how can any leica owner be caught dead without them? using a shoe horn and three helpful bystanders i wedge my foot into the mephisto; tickled to no end realizing how you all will turn green with envy when you see me stylishly walking down the street like this: AUGH! AUGH! AUGH! three steps advise me to quickly put them back. my toes aching from being folded beneath my foot like a closed book i am limping towards the door when i see a pair of Definately Very Ugly-Ass Shoes. They look oddly familiar. could they be? yes INDEED! it's a pair of Bruno Magli's!!! the very shoes made fameous by photographers harry scull and ej flammer when they both ponied up photos of o.j. simpson wearing them at a buffalo bills games in 1993. (previously they were made fameous by an unknown assailant who wore them while sawing nicole brown simpson's head off.) i ripped off my combat boots and dove a foot into them: size twelve! a perfect fit!!!! you are all so jealous. i know you are. and to rub it in, later in the week i shall post photographs of my new shoes. kc p.s. to add even MORE photo content, on the bruno magli homepage (www.brunomagli.it) there is a photo essay by ellen von unwerth of some nearly naked model running around in spikey heels which must be bruno magli's. p.p.s. these are indeed ugly ass shoes, but the really scary thing is that the person who killed nicole brown simpson was wearing these shoes and a black sweat suit. talk about bad taste. loafers and a sweat suit? give me a break! - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
