I hope to use this on my R-8 for wild life.<<<<< Hi James, It's a solid performer of a lens for anything and a sweetheart of a lens for wild life. And with an R8 and motor drive you'll feel like the king of the castle as it's so easy to handle. If you don't have the motor drive think seriously about getting it, as you'll have much better results with the motor than manually advancing film and cocking the shutter. Pass on the winder, it'll drive you crazy simply because it doesn't advance and re-cock the shutter fast enough and with wild life every split second can make the difference between a winning shot and no shot! Along with the motor, look for the tubular shoulder stock and pistol grip so you can fire the camera from the pistol grip micro switch, much like firing a machine pistol. It also makes for a more stable handling of the camera and lens at any speed, but when the light is low and you're reaching for every bit of steadiness on a slow shutter speed the shoulder brace is excellent. I'm sure you'll have other advice and one to watch out for is Doug Herr, as he uses one for a great deal of his most excellent wild life images. ted Ted Grant Photography Limited www.islandnet.com/~tedgrant - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
