Photo history buried by New York catastrophe

Thousands of negatives featuring John F Kennedy are feared missing after
it was revealed that the late US President's personal photographer had
placed them in a bank vault at the World Trade Center for safe keeping.

Up to 40,000 images taken by Jacques Lowe – who died this May – are
thought to have been destroyed in the 11 September attack. Lowe's
daughter Thomasina says her father kept the collection – thought to be
worth up to £1.5m – at a vault at the JP Morgan Chase Manhattan Bank in
a building close to the Center's twin towers. Thomasina Lowe also
revealed that the collection was not insured.
