The 35 only does 35mm, and is 4000DPI, the 45 will do up to 4x5, 35mm is scanned at 5080DPI... The reason the Leaf is, IMO, the absolute best B&W scanner is because it is the only scanner that scans B&W with a single neutral density filter. This eliminates the issues caused by scanning B&W films in RGB, which every other scanner does. The red and blue channels tend to be fuzzy, and therefore make for fuzzier scans. The Leaf can also scan color, but does so in three passes, and is therefore slower than newer scanners that scan all three colors in a single pass. The Leaf has not been made in around 5 years, but parts are still readily available, and the 35 goes for around $500, and the 45 for around $2000. I use them with both the recent Mac OS, as well as Windows 2000, with no problems. Anyone interested in more information, please feel free to ask.
