In the old days, UV filters were necessary to suppress excess UV radiation
at altitudes above 6,000 feet (roughly 1.8 km). However, this would only
apply today to those using lenses made prior to around 1950. I believe any
Leicaflex lens would have internal coatings to alleviate this problem.

Of course, if you insist, use a quality filter (Heliopan, Harrison &
Harrison, B+W).

The first version of the 2/50 Summicron-R took Series VI filters in the
lens hood. After that, E55 is the size.

I believe the other two lenses also take E55.
