I had the version before the ASPH and had terrible problems with the paint falling off the diaphragm blades. Berore you buy check the condition of the inner lens surfaces just as carefully as the front and back surfaces. To do this place the lens on a light box and look at the surfaces using a loupe or a magnifying glass. This is the only way I know that will allow your eyes to focus on the inner surfaces. I bought mine in near mint condition, and it was obviously almost unused, but a year of heavy use was too much for the paint. So what looks clean, may turn into a disaster. Mine was cleaned, not by Leica, but they never managed to get it properly put back together again. The dealer who sold and repaired it took it back at the price paid plus repair cost when I bought one of his demonstrator ASPHs. As others have said, if you want sharp pictures at full aperture (and have a steady hand and good processing technique, if you use b+w), that is the lens to get, otherwise it is a matter of taste, more than of money Chris >The last version of the 35/2 made before the Asph version is a wonderful >lens.
