However: Low budget: 90mm Summicron R available from the $500's if cosmetic condition is no object. Add the 180 3.4 for about $900 for more reach. Add the APO 2X for about another $1200 give or take. Higher budget: the 100 APO Elmarit again add the 2X for more reach, for even further reach add either the 400 or 560 Televit lenses for what about $800. On the wide end for the close in shots how can you go wrong in Leica land. There are no dogs. How wide do you want to go? If you are not comfortable with wide angles then the 28 in any version is a good choice with newer designs being better(and more expensive). If you are comfortable with wides then go to the 21 for the low budget approach at something like $800 or for much better the new 19mm at something close to $2300 for a new version, $900 for the old design. To sum up, with a budget of $4000 you can have a 21 F4, 100 APO, and the 2X APO extender, or the 28mm, the 400 and 200 rolls of film, or a new 19 and a 90 Summicron, or a new 100 APO, the 560, and 100 rolls of film, or ... You get the point that the choices ore endless, you just have to figure out what you want to take and then make the choice accordingly. Prices quoted are from memory and should be used as a rough guide for budgeting, not for hair pulling if you can't find one today at the indicated price; nor should you gloat if something comes up much cheaper. 2 yen Don Dory dorysrus@mindspring.com - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
