While there are exceptional Zeiss lenses in the in the Contax system most notably in the longer ranges 50 mm+ , there are other considerations weird filter sizes that require step up rings to a hood , and odd optical characteristics wide open on shorter focal lengths of less then 50 mm , also the none standard camera lay out and rather dark ground glass . In the R line lens over the years have been as good or better then the Zeiss lenses of the Contax , Also there is the standard camera lay out , and a system that appears to be continuing on so you have some ware to build to, and I have been told the ttl flash on the R7 works quite well . I have never owned either the Leica R or Contax but have had many friends and colleagues over the years whom have ,and I have had to suffer through their complaints about the Contax , and not a single one who went the Contax way still uses the system. In contrast to the ones who went with the R system even after moving, on to af and digital still use their Leica R every chance they get . hope this helps Chuck - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
