Tom,

I have a Canon Sure Shot A-1 that I use for snorkling and I think it would fill
the bill for your wet muddy outdoor needs. 32mm autofocus lens, simple controls
with flash control.

BH has it, listed as 'underwater', for $130, or with date back $150.
