I have to "fourth" this sentiment.  But
before you select an Epson model, check
at www.nomorecarts.com because if you
get serious, you are going to want to
dump the cartridges for a bulk inking
system.  Also check www.inkjetmall.com .
Their black and white system and
software is great.

It is not the ink costs that are driving
me nuts, it's the paper cost.  On the
other hand, it is not out of line with
home darkroom printing costs.
