To respond to the inquiry about LHSA brassing, mine (purchased in November and received in January of this year) has begun to brass at the baseplate and near the finder window. My 35 summicron ASPH is black paint as well, and it is showing very slight brassing now. By way of introduction, I am a longtime lurker (perhaps three or more years) who has shot Nikon for over 20 years with a short period of Olympus before that. When I first started lurking here, I was interested in Ms but never thought I would have a system other than Nikon. But sure enough, after reading for so long about how everyone loved their Ms, I began to want one. I probably would never have actually bought an M because I had a hard time spending that kind of money when I already had a fairly extensive and capable Nikon system. My lovely wife gave me the LHSA .72 and the 35 'cron ASPH as a Christmas gift. (Sorry guys, all her sisters are married!) It was the most beautiful camera I had ever seen, but I knew that it had to be used and not pampered to be appreciated. The day I got the camera, the plastic baseplate protector came off. Even though my free time is very limited, I have shot (for me) a fair amount of film this year. One reason for that is I carry the LHSA everywhere -- including to work every day in my briefcase. The result is that my photography is becoming much less "safe" and I am now trying to develop as a street shooter. I don't have a scanner or website yet, but some day hopefully I will be able to show a few things I have shot using the M. It truly is a great camera and has changed the way I think about shooting.
