I put pieces of masking tape on the baseboard at the appropriate measurements- several thickness to enable sliding film into position by touch. I think the main trick is to wear photofinisher-type cotton gloves so you can handle the film freely with no fingerprint problems. It's probably a good idea to use a cutter that has a bar to keep your fingers from going under the blade when you're holding the film in place, too... I found developing those small sheets more trouble than it was worth, so now use only roll film with the camera. With regard to the lens question, the 101 Ektar I have is definitely better in terms of contrast and colour rendition than my Elmar 50/3.5. I haven't directly compared resolution, but the Ektar does produce excellent 16x20's at my normal working apertures of f/11 and smaller. Can't comment on wider apertures as I've never gotten around to testing them.
