A VERY good point!

Do you really need to carry 2-3 bodies and 6 lenses if you're on
vacation? How about a camera and an extra lens instead? Or only one
camera and lens?

If you're working (or your vacation is primarily about making photos)
then certainly take all the gear you need for the job. Otherwise, why
bear the burden of all that stuff?

On jobs when I have an assistant I have them haul the gear - thats part
of their job. I try to carry only what I'm using and NOTHING else. I
don't want to be distracted by anything, especially a gear bag and
worrying "if I set it down will it still be there?"

Ask yourself if all that stuff you're carrying is helping you make
pictures!!
I suspect that often its NOT HELPING but HINDERING your photography.

I rather be SEEING WELL while carrying one camera than have a load of
gear getting in my way.
