Video maybe mike i cant speak for video i'm not sure how i feel about video.
Diffusion filters have gotten to the point where they just don't cut it. If
there is a known successful still fineart, commercial, news, fashion
photographer out there using diffusion I'd like to know who they are. Their use
has been relegated to second rate portraiture and low level amateur stuff.
Diffusion in Leica photography?
Putting any diffusion at all over a Leica lens?
I'd go so far as to call it a generalized unwise move. Not for me for sure.
Lowering contrast an excuse to use diffusion?
Nope!!
Those low contrast filters are diffusion filters. A rose by any other name.

You could pull your film which means develop less.
Use special developers if it's black and white and even color. (First developer)
More diluted developers, water baths, alkali baths. Stand development (not for me)
Pre or post fog you film.
Make one exposure for your highlights another exposure for your shadows and
combine them in Photoshop
Use lower contrast films
fill in with reflectors or flash.
anything but defiling the image that goes into your Leica lens.
It's an impure thought if you ask me. An impure deed. A not happening deal.
Uncool Daddy O!
