The guy who does my printing, Robin Wright, is a genius in his own right. He does a lot of work for the local fine arts community, and is far better at what he does than I am at taking pictures. To the extend that I have I decent portfolio it's thanks to him. He has saved my work on the easel many times. It's easy for a photographer to think of him or her self as a lone ranger kind of artist stalking the world looking for images. In my experience you get much better results, especially at the high end, if you think of yourself as the captain, or coach, of a team which includes camera manufacturers, film makers, developers, printers, framers, and in the digital era this list also has to include computer specialists. NO one is going to do their best work for you, and no one is going to go the extra mile for you once you have made it clear to them, either on or between the lines that you think that they are jerk-off with nothing of importance to contribute. That's right out of Management 101. Barney Brian Reid wrote: > Printing is very different from photography, but it can be complex, and there aren't fancy dials that you can turn. Piezography and electronic B&W printing may change this; it's definitely easier to achieve the desired effects in Photoshop than in Selectol.
