Very helpful, Tom, thank you. I think Leica should publish the built-in
diopter information in their handbooks and owner's manuals, so that visually
impaired people can better choose their optical correction. Most users will
not have the luxury of trying out various correction eyepieces. Those who
need custom eyepieces must know what's in the camera before knowing what to
order from the optical lab.

Julian,
I was told at the Leica School in 1986 that M cameras have a -.5
diopter and a virtual image distance of 2m. Hope this clears up the
confusion.

p.s.: The R3 and R4 have a -1 diopter and the SL and SL2 have a -.5.
