I have driven over most of the United States. The best thing you can do
for yourself is to
get off the freeways and find a nice two lane state road headed in the
right direction.
You'll be sharing the road with far fewer big trucks. Almost every town
you pass through will offer something interesting. Opportunities will
present themselves. Have a great trip!
