At home I use Agent from Forte: http://www.forteinc.com. It's $29, and it's everything I could ask for in an email and news reader. There's a freeware version that does newsgroups only, but the full version has the email client and kill filters, which are oh so handy... It's also a text-only program, which is the way the Invisible Pink Unicorn intended Usenet to be.

At work I have to use Outlook, which sucks by comparison.

This question is completely sincere, not sarcastic, as it might sound.

What software would you suggest for the Windows 98 platform? I've been
using Eudora Pro from some time now, and find my computer paralyzed while it
sorts (via filters) incoming mail.
