This sounds like that famous description of pornography, by some Supreme
Court judge in the U.S. trying to decide what was "obscene".  He said,
"Well, I can't define pornography, but I know it when I see it."  (!!)  

Personal opinion / taste / aesthetics are, by definition, subjective.
Having said all that I agree - give me contrast!
