Sam,
I'd not take the time to use the scissors as the tiny "light" you see wont
ever in your life time of exposure make any fogging.

Hell you'd freak out in my darkroom/office when I bring the loaded reels out
of the loading room to drop in the developer tank.  There are all those
blinking computer, scanner, printer, zipdrive, speakers twinkling lights and
other nefarious light leaks around and we've never had any fogging.

I suppose if we loaded reels then left them lying around for a day they
might be effected, well in my darkroom?  Probably a few hours. :-)

hey don't sweat it man it don't mean nothin'!  I bet if you had a Graylab
timer you'd tape over the numbers and moving clock hands for fear and risk.
Save your money good buddy and just get on with whipping the film off and
into the tank and souped. Keep it simple and don't worry so much.
