Subject: [Leica] Recommendations: 50 mm Leica R Lens f1.4 vs f2 ROM

Is the additional cost for the 50 mm f1.4 justified by enhanced
performance throughout the aperture range? How do these two lenses
compare from f2 through f16? Any opinions appreciated.

Greg,

If the Summilux-R is the current model (E60 filter threads) the biggest
difference you'll notice is between f/2.0 and f/1.4. Both of these lenses
are excellent choices but if you don't need the f/1.4 speed save your money
and get the Summicron-R.
