I wasn't aware of that, but it no longer applies with the new lens.

And I should be off to Paris myself for 9 months in May. My only concern is
the amount of film I'll have to process and scan when I get back :-)

I'm considering switching to C41 for the B&W stuff for ease of processing
(the alternative is to use 'normal' B&W film and develop it myself over
there and scan it when I get back).

If you change from 28mm to 50mm you have to go through 35mm to get the right
frame lines. Leica tells you so in their product description.
