It is not difficult to employ a subcontractor to machine brass parts and
another subcontractor to make black, olive green or pink paint finishes.
Leica generates extra demand from collectors and noveltys addicts. They
will want matching lenses, too! And all this without canibalising the
"regular" sales. And a quotation in photo magazines' "new products"
sections free of charge.
