You can get external self timers for about 20 bux. they're cheap though.
As for why Leica stopped, well it looks to me that there isn't a whole lot
of room in the body, and the old self timers are where the battery
compartment is currently.. so it appears that you have to make a sacrifice
there, self timer or internal light meter.
