Jo, the 35/2,5 Pancake that is on the M4-P does not have a shade on it. So 
far I have not noticed any flare with it. I did see some flare on a friends 
35/2,5, but that turned out to be a flaw in the coating and the lens was 
replaced.
 The image quality is equal to the older Summicron 35, non-Asph except 
wide-open where the Summicron is better. From f4 on, the Pancake is 
excellent. I particularly like the larger diameter barrel and the short 
"throw" from 0,8 meter to infinity. You can really follow fast movement with 
this lens. Great bargain of all times for Leica's!
