As a general rule, higher speed color films have lower contrast. Check your 
negatives and make sure that you have detail in the shadow (thin) areas ... 
if not increase your exposure and hope you don't blow the highlights. If 
shadow density is good ... ask your printer, a custom print could be an 
option for a worthy image.

IMHO "Best exposure strategy" is to CAREFULLY add ' fill ' to the shadows 
if possible ... either with some sort of reflector or (EEEK!) flash.

Or go B&W.
