Ted, what you speak is lunacy ! Having been born, raised in and
experienced Manitoba winters for over 20 years (until I had the sense to
move "east" in the early 80's), and the with the occasional Christmas
visit home to refresh my memory, I can say that Portage and Main in
January is not where you want to be. 

Even the die-hard Manitobans use the heated underpass.

And for those of you to who dare to brave a Manitoba winter - those
electrical outlets you see in the parking lots, they're for engine oil
heaters. We don't drive electric cars.
