To the best of my knowledge (my manual it at home), Auto Exposure Lock is
only available in 'A' mode with spot metering (it's not available in 'M'
mode, since there is no autoexposure in that mode).  It is used by pointing
the meter circle at the area you wish to meter, then pressing the shutter
release lightly.  At this point, the 'A' with the circle in the VF is dimmed
and the value is locked.  'P', 'T', and the other 'A' mode all use
full-field, centre-weighted metering for which Leica, presumably,
unfortunately didn't think required AEL ability.
