Subject: [Leica] Leica or B+W Filters
From: Shel Belinkoff <belinkoff@earthlink.net>

At various times I'll be using filters on my Leica lenses. Is there
any reason to pay almost twice the price for a Leica filter compared
to a multi-coated B+W filter? Do Leica filters offer better coating,
more (or less) coating layers, better, flatter glass, or have any
inherent benefit over the B+W filters? Are Leica filter rings brass
or another material?

This question is not a rehash of whether or not one should use
filters, but to determine what the differences are between these
brands so I can get a little more information about the Leica filters
and then decide which I'll use. Thanks for any help and suggestions.
