Its a flat Black III w/ red details & a back door done in the manner of a prototype of the M3. Classic Camera has also done a profile on these creative clones in issue10. CC also shows an equally clever Cutaway version. Anyway, I recently saw another one inthe NY/Nj area camera shows. This was even more unusal. It too was flat black w/ red bits. But it wasnt a III, it was closer to a standard. But no viewfinder or accessory shoe. Just a bubble level built in flush to the top plate where the shoe should be. Also there were details like a bit of the top plate had pretty recess lined w/ vulcanite. And the baseplate lock was also detailed w/ vulcanite. No Lens, jsut a custom black bodycap engraved w/ the LeitzWetzlar logo & lined w/ red felt. I'm told very few of these are produced by a solitary craftsman. They seem to be more for the shelf than use, but I would LOVE to shoot one of the focusing models, since reloading would seem to be easier. Has anyone else spotted a uniquely modified leica clone? - -BernardDelGado "Time is the Fire we Burn in" _______________________________________________________ Get 100% FREE Internet Access powered by Excite Visit http://freelane.excite.com/freeisp
