Here is what I like to do with film:

1. Buy 40 rolls of Fuji slide film, and hopefully shoot it.

2. Whatever film I'm using, take it out of the boxes and cans, and put it in
the clear white Fuji cans.

3. Put the Fuji cans into ziplocks. You can get about 20 in to a quart bag
and maybe 40 into a gallon. Its important that you the Fuji canisters, since
they are all the same size and happen to fit well. Ilford canisters are also
a similar size, but they are not transparent, so you can't tell what kind of
film is in what can. Kodak canisters don't quite fit right, you can't line
them up in a row.

4. Stuff the ziplocks into my backpack. At the x-ray, take them out and beg
to have them hand checked. Throw in a few rolls of TMAX 3200. I had a guy in
Paris actually hand check the 3200, and x-ray everything else.

I usually take 2 or 3 quart bags, and try and keep one for shot film and one
for not shot film.

Anyway, if you manage to avoid having the film see the x-ray machine more
than a couple of times, you should be OK.

As for Paris, there are lots of good hotel suggestions in various guide
books. And, if you are careful, its hard to find bad food. If you want to
spend shocking amounts of money for coffee, check out the Cafe scene. Its
fun, but expensive. Finally, the city was obviously designed by
photographers. The layout seems to but good light on every important
building at some right time of day. So hang around and shoot film like its
free.
