I spoke yesterday afternoon with Tom Abrahamsson, and he said that the top of the new camera is brass, and that is CNC milled (as are the Rapidwinder bodies). This allows small runs without expensive tooling, but does mean that the price will be somewhat higher than if they had large runs of cast pieces. So that, in part, explains the price premium. It also means that they can easily make additional pieces at any time, so the 2000 unit run could be easily extended if desired. We didn't talk about the Rapidwinders for it as such, but since he presently makes Rapidwinders for black paint M2's and such, this one would pose no problems. The main problem at the time is that he says he is overworked with 'pre-Christmas' orders. Probably why he didn't speak up on this topic himself. * Henning J.
