Pros have lots of camera and can be pretty fickle about them, myself included. I've purchased $1000 to $2000 worth of equipment for a week of shooting, because in the long run it's cheaper than renting. You keep it for a while to see if you'll use it again, so you have it, but you don't identify with it. I have Leica Ms, but if people ask me what 35mm I use my answer would be Canon EOS. I know plenty of pros who have two or three different MF systems, lots of LF stuff of various brands, and somewhere around there a Leica M with a few lenses. The thing is, with the exception of photojournalism and some travel photography, there isn't much pro work for a 35mm rangefinder camera.
