A diopter adjustment wouldn't be sufficient?  Most changes in eyesight with age
are simple refractive errors; if you can correct those, there's no reason why
you can't continue to use MF, if that is your preference.

Of course, having the _option_ of AF is always handy.  It's hard to find a
high-end SLR without it, anyway.
