He is an astute Leica collector, and the owner of several fabulous items. This is undoubtedly a black-paint sample. He knows what is he doing. Curiously, I have a user version of the same lens, for which I paid $400, or $2,755 less than Arnold paid for his lens. On the other hand, I intend to use mine. Bob Rose
