It's like selling fan belts in the middle of the desert. The camera
store price considers the attitude of the buyer. Is the buyer in a cold
sweat panic and will hand over his eldest child as payment for this
item? Gouging? Is that the word? I don't think my memory has failed me.
It was Citizens Camera store in Portland Oregon. Some of their prices
are OK. I've done a lot of business with them but some of their prices
are double what another camera store charges. This was the case with
some filters I just checked on last week. The percentage of pros that go
there has dropped off greatly over the past few years. I imagine in
every small city there is a camera store with prices that amaze and confuse.
Often it's the one that is open on Saturday. I still go there once in a
blue moon usually a Saturday but with the knowledge that the price might
be way off.
