I did purchase the black battery cover with slit earlier this year.
From Leica in Solms, it is item # 442-299.805-009. The price was 15.48 DM,
so about 8-9 $. With S+H+VAT it came out to about DM 26. 
I understand there is additional cost for handling of such an item when offered
in the US or Japan. But the price should not reach the $75 or DM 99 range
as posted earlier here.
