This dispenses the agent during the final rinse so that your dishes and glassware do not spot. Exactly like using a wetting agent on film. Also, many (perhaps most) modern dish washing detergents contain the wetting agent so that a separate dispenser is not needed. Bottom line is that most dishwashers add wetting agent to the wash. Before using a dishwasher for your reels, you should check your detergent. And check that your spouse does not fill the wetting agent dispenser, should your washer have one. And don't forget that the drying cycle in some dishwashers gets "really hot". Probably not the greatest thing for plastic reels. Use the cycle that doesn't dry. This FYI is simply so that you will double check what you are doing instead of possibly adding fuel to the fire.
