Subject: Re: [Leica] Is there a series VI polariser filter?

Doug,
There were two for the earlier lens (11 228) with removeable hood :

13 358, a standard (linear) polariser OK on the Leicaflex Mk1

13 353, a circular polariser, which had to be used on subsequent
Leicaflex's and R series, due to the fact that false readings would be
obtained with linear polarisers due to the polarising effect of the
beam-splitter in the metering system.

The 50mm f2 Summicron-R (11 215) with built-on extending lens hood used the
following:

13 374, an E55 screw-in standard (linear) polariser OK on the Leicaflex Mk1

13 357, an E55 screw-in circular polariser, which had to be used on
subsequent Leicaflex's and R series, due to the fact that false readings
would be obtained with linear polarisers due to the polarising effect of
the beam-splitter in the metering system.

but, just to confuse, this later lens was provided with an accessory
adapter (14 225) for series 7 filters.

Hope this makes things clear, or at least non reflective !

John
