And the price is nearly the same for the summicron, the 40 that is. As for cheap R3's i'd suggest going to a local camera show, or waiting until a larger show takes place, schedules are listed in "The Bug" and looking for a good user R3 or R4 they're out there and they are cheap. About three years ago at a show in Fort Washington PA, near Philly, I was with a friend at a show, and while looing for deals to buy for his store when I found a table full of beat equipment. I mean ugly stuff, on the table were 2 very used R3's and a skeleton of an R4. I bought the uglier of the 3's for $125 and my friend bought the other for $175, and the R4 skeleton for parts for $40. And did it work? Last year I took the R3 to Puerto Rico for vacation, it got very wet during a day of hiking in the rainforest, it's still going to this day. Money well spent. Deals on ugly equipment are out there especially if the camera's don't say "Germany" on the bottom, it's not as exciting to collectors as "Portugal". dave k
