Carl,
I too sufferred from the sprocket holes intruding into the image of a full frame
print. I believe this is due to the use of incorrectly trimmed leaders on the old
screw mount cameras. The desired preference is for a long leader as offered in the
early days or acquired through trimming in accordance with the Leitz film trimmer
(v. expensive s/h!). If the modern shorter leaders are inserted in the cameras there
is a danger that the film does not travel squarely across the film but at a slight
diagonal.
The way to resolve this has been discussed on the LUG a few times, one can properly
trim the leaders or adjust the film through the camera and shutter once loaded.

best regards,

Jem
