As I recall, some of the strap lugs on the M3 are brass (some may have been
replaced with steel).  In any event, by having them loose and hanging the
camera and heavy lens from them, you are placing much more strain on them then
usual.  They could shear. Of course I would be happy to try your Nocti whilst
you carry a lighter lens.
