The R8 is better built than the R6 or the R7. It's not flaky. It is big, 
but it fits the hand very well. Much better exposure meter. Much better 
mirror lockup. And so what with the batteries? They last a long time. And 
there is a rechargeable batter for the winder. No doubt the motor will too.

Working life? At least as long as the other R cameras, and likely longer. 
It's tougher.
