There is no difference concerning the actual product. I'd have absolutely no concerns about purchasing grey market items from B & H in New York. As their web site explains, the grey market product is simply one not intended for the US market. I purchased my new M-6 body with the USA passport warranty from Don Chatterton's Leica. He is an authorized dealer. However my lens I purchased from him was an unused demo, sealed in the original box. It was a 100.00 less then obtaining the USA warranted lens. Beware of unscrupulous dealers who advertise grey market products and strip you of the original packaging, caps, instructions, etc. Hope this Helps!
